When vermiculite is exposed to high heat, volume expands, permeability increases and volumetric weight drops significantly.At the end of the process, an expanded vermiculite is obtained which is light, sterile, dry, liquids with fast sucking and slow release (absorbe) capacity.

The expanded vermiculite is used as an absorbent in some chemical processes because it is an active, broad chemical surface that can enter the reaction. Vermiculite is evaluated as an additive material in paint, plastic and other materials when finely ground in powder size.
